'FASHIONED' UNLEASHED 2010

Each year Artisan gallery, Fortitude Valley, Queenslan hand picks the most exciting and innovative graduate work from leading art and design institutions to assemble a pioneering exhibition in the 'Unleashed' series. The 2010 exhibition 'Fashioned' showcases adventurous Queensland talent including high fashion millinery designs. Pamela Cameron has excelled in her millinery endeavour and created some extravagant women's hats from traditional materials including straw, felt and silk fabric.

The exhibition opening night had a full house to see the fashion parade showcasing work by the exhibiting designers.'Fashioned' Unleashed 2010 exhibition April - June showcased the 'Pelican Collection' millinery design by Pamela Cameron. Inspiration for the collection was drawn from the Australian outback where the effects of flood in the channel country brings new life to the arid centre.

'Pelican Spirit' the feature hat of the collection inspired by the flocks of pelicans returning to the outback to nest, made from jinsin with feather trim.

'Beauty and Terror' inspired by the contrasts of beauty and harshness in the landscape, made from jinsin and feathers.

'Lake Eyre' inspired by the flood water flowing into the lake and spreading across the salt pans, made from jinsin with a large silk rose trim.

Renee models the striking hat 'Channel Country' inspired by the flooding channels of the famous Lake Eyre River System in Central Australia where the ochre landsape is transformed with ribbons of lush green vegitation along flooding channels as the life giving water flows toward Lake Eyre.







The 'Pelican Collection' exhibition included 'Budgie Spirit' inspired by the large flocks of budgerigars returning to the Outback to breed during the floods. The bright colour and striking design give this hat an exotic birdlike appearance. Modeled by Renee.



'Glossy Black Cockatoo' inpired by the beautiful red tailed cocktoos of Central Australia in full flight.





On opening night of the exhibition, Jan wears the elegant red velvet and straw braid hat 'Embers' inspired by the camp fires of the outback.



The signature hat 'Pelican Spirit' seen surrounded by the team from Savida, exclusive Racecourse Road accessories boutique, with millinery designer Pamela Cameron. The ladies wear 'Pelican Collection' hats including 'Embers', 'Black Opal', 'Crock Hunter', 'Spinnifex' and 'Venom'. Savida stocks a range of Ascot Hats.



'Ayer' modeled by Renee backstage with Pam wearing 'Black Opal', on opening night 22 April.



'Ayer' modeled by Renee is a statement turban style hat inspired by Uluru, made from jinsin with pheasant feather and sequence trim. It represents the spirit of the Australian outback landscape.
